Developed to help you write the right book with clarity, structure, and discernment.
What is The Memoir Studio, Really?
The Memoir Studio is a private, guided container where I work with a small number of authors to clarify, structure, write, and refine their manuscript from the beginning. This is not a writing class, and it is not a generic coaching package. It is a partnership in discernment, craft guidance, and emotional steadiness—designed to help you write your story the right way from the start.
What The Memoir Studio Is
- A private, high-touch container
- Guided developmental support
- Structured around clarity, decision-making, and strong narrative foundations
- A place to build a memoir with depth, resonance, and integrity
- A guided process for writers who want to do the work themselves and do it the right way from the start
What The Memoir Studio Isn't
- Ghostwriting or done-for-you services
- Draft rescue or polish-only support
- Validation-only coaching
- Babysitting disguised as accountability
- Prescriptive nonfiction coaching
- Fast-turn output and speed (no shortcuts or cut corners)
Memoir Studio is not for everyone with a story.
It’s for people ready to craft their story into something meaningful.
"What a fantastic journey...In our initial chat, I felt connected to Ally on a personal level. I could not have found someone more authentic and filled with joy, positivity, energy, and humor. I knew after ten minutes into the conversation that she was my gal...She patiently taught me many ins and outs of writing and helped me dig deeper into scary places I did not want to go to. Those areas that I would have never thought mattered but ultimately discovered were the soul of my story. Words that are now so beautifully crafted that sometimes it's hard to believe they all came from me. I entrusted Ally with my story, my heartaches, my good, and my bad. The result is a beautifully written story that I am immensely proud of. This sense of pride and accomplishment is something I wish for every aspiring writer. I recommend Ally with every ounce of my heart and spirit."
Sheila Kimble-Haas, Author of Waiting for the Kick: A Midwife's Grief and Rebirth in Africa
Is This You?
The Memoir Studio is for first-time memoirists—or second-time writers correcting an earlier attempt—who know their story is too important to be left to guesswork. They want to do the work themselves, but they do not want to do it alone. They are ready for guidance, ready for discernment, and ready to take their story and book seriously.
The Studio is an intentional container for creative labor built for adults who are willing to stay in the work of curating their life story into something meaningful that transcends from them to their readers. It is not for everyone—and that is part of what protects the quality of the process.
This may be for you if...
- You know there’s a memoir in you, but you do not want to wing it.
- You want to write the book yourself, but with an experienced guide by your side.
- You care more about meaning, integrity, and quality than speed, status, or shortcuts.
- You are open to feedback, redirection, and being told when something is not working.
- You want support without being micromanaged, parented, or chased.
- You do not yet have a finished draft—or you are willing to dismantle an earlier attempt in order to write a stronger, truer book.
- You have a story that is tender, layered, spiritual, non-majority, othered, or difficult to shape—and you want a guide who understands both the weight of it and the craft required to carry it well.
This is not for you if...
- You want someone else to write, reconstruct, or “fix” the book for you.
- You are looking for a quick polish on an existing draft.
- You want reassurance without rigor.
- You want a parent, not a partner.
- You are attached to your draft and unwilling to question its structure, quality, or direction.
- You want speed, productivity, or formula more than clarity, truth, and craft.
- You want me to chase your momentum or carry the creative labor on your behalf.
If you are looking for a serious, guided path—
not a shortcut and not a babysitter—keep going.
Stop Writing the Wrong Book
Most memoirs do not go off the rails because the writer lacks a story worth telling. They go off the rails because the writer starts too soon, without enough clarity, structure, or support to make strong decisions. They wander in the trenches of their own memory. They second-guess themselves for months. They build pages on a shaky foundation and only realize much later that the manuscript is not doing what they hoped it would do.
The Memoir Studio exists to prevent that. It protects you from rookie mistakes, wasted years, and misaligned publishing paths. It replaces chaos and self-doubt with clarity, structure, and confidence. And it helps you shape a memoir with real resonance—not just a stack of memories, and not a manuscript that navel-gazes its way into irrelevance.
What Makes the Studio Different
Clarity before speed. Structure before volume.
The Memoir Studio is built for writers who are willing to do the real work of authorship: to write, to engage the material, to bring questions and decisions forward, and to stay open to feedback when the book asks more of them.
My role is not to rush you, flatter you, or drag you across the finish line half-conscious. My role is to guide the process, strengthen the structure, challenge what isn’t working, and help you make the decisions that allow the right book to take shape well.
GUIDED,
NOT MANAGED
You are not micromanaged, parented, or chased. You are guided with care, challenged when needed, and supported in ways that strengthen your work without taking your authority away.
ACCESS
WITHOUT PURSUIT
Support is available when you initiate it. Depth is available. Care is available.
Chasing is not.
APPLICATION
OVER INSTRUCTION
Core principles live inside the Studio library. Live time is used for synthesis, discernment, decision-making, and manuscript-specific guidance.
You are the author. I’m your discernment partner.

How the Studio Works
Inside the Studio, authors move through three core movements. The structure is clear. The pace has flexibility. Each movement includes key milestones designed to ensure the manuscript is developing in the right directi.n
Before we worry about volume, we get clear on the book itself. You will develop your Memoir Compass—motivation, mission, and message—clarify your reader, determine the scope and timeline of the story, and begin understanding the architecture of memoir as a form.
Milestone: Compass Validation. Confirms the central purpose and internal logic of the book before structural work begins.
Once the foundation is strong, you draft. You will develop your outline and chapter abstracts, map the narrative arc, begin drafting, and apply the essential craft elements that make memoir work on the page: scene, dialogue, tension, interiority, and voice.
Milestone: Outline Review. Checks scope, chapter trajectory, and narrative structure before drafting accelerates.
As the manuscript takes shape, we strengthen what is there. You will continue drafting, stabilize narrative voice, deepen emotional clarity, strengthen scenes, and prepare the manuscript for revision and reader feedback.
Milestone: Early Chapter Review (First 3 Chapters). Assesses voice, pacing, narrative grounding, and craft in your first 3 chapters so the manuscript gains momentum on a stronger foundation.
Once your complete working draft is finished, you may submit it for one comprehensive developmental review focused on structural integrity, narrative clarity, thematic cohesion, pacing, voice consistency, and readiness for beta readers or publishing. This is strategic developmental guidance—not line editing and not endless chapter-by-chapter triage.

“As a first-time author, I knew the story I wanted to tell, but I was overwhelmed as to how to go about it. Ally was with me every step of the way as part teacher, coach, organizer, cheerleader, and word wizard. From our very first meeting, she put me at ease with her friendly demeanor and organizational skills, making each step of the book journey a manageable bite. Ally made all the difference in providing the details that made my story compelling and in my own voice. She is a master at helping you craft the story that you are destined to share with the world.”
Susan Lynch, Author of Life After Kevin: A Mother's Search for Peace and the Golden Retriever's that Led the Way

What IT'S LIKE TO BE IN THE WORK
This work is intimate. It asks a lot. And when the fit is right, it changes everything.
"I could not have written with such soul and authenticity without Ally. Ally is a masterful book coach. She helped me transform Missing Pieces from clinical writing into a deeply emotional, immersive memoir. Her feedback is intuitive and inspiring—always pushing me to go deeper, write more, and grow as a storyteller. If you're writing memoir (or anything) and need guidance, clarity, or a creative partner who truly gets you, Ally is your person. She's on my speed dial for all my future writing."
Christiane Scarpino, Author of Missing Pieces: A Terrorist Attack Survivor's Memoir of Trauma, Resilience, and Healing
"I valued connecting with Ally, and experiencing her expertise and confidence in speaking about memoir titles and voices. Her explanation of the use of two voices, one for my character, and one for me as my older self reflecting on the lessons I learned from my years as a sailor at sea was incisive and helpful in writing my revisions to my manuscript. I have been impressed by Ally’s generous genius for several years, and recommend her coaching for anyone seeking guidance as a writer!"
Betsy Bowen, Author of Unbreakable: A Voyager's Journey Back to Herself
"From the start, Ally brought a level of energy, curiosity, and commitment that immediately put me at ease. What stood out most was how deeply Ally immersed herself in the material...But what made the experience exceptional was that Ally did not just organize information—she elevated it. Ally found the story within the facts, added thoughtful perspective, and shaped the narrative in a way that made it both compelling and authentic...Ally was also incredibly dedicated to the process. Responsive, engaged, and genuinely enthusiastic about the project from beginning to end. At no point did it feel transactional—she was fully invested in getting it right..."
ECB, Attorney and Author
"Ally has been fantastic to work with as my writer while we are writing my memoir. She is funny, supportive, creative, understanding, informative, and kind, to name a few of the adjectives that describe her. She allows me time to process my feelings as we write and lends an ear as I tell her my story. She shares a compassionate understanding, allowing me to move at a pace that is comfortable for me. I truly believe we were meant to work together."
Sam Heinrichs,
Author of Though I Walk: A Memoir of Trauma, Healing, and Truth
Some people know right away that I’m their person. The work tends to confirm it.

Final Invitation
Don’t die with your story still inside you.
You do not have to arrive here with everything figured out. Most memoirs begin with a pull—a knowing that something in your life deserves deeper understanding and careful telling. That is enough to begin.

I’ve got the map. I’ve got the trenches. And if this is your moment, I’ve got you.
